One thing i am extremely particular about is service.


Imagine you are looking at a menu outside a cafe.

The waitress comes up and asks politely, "Can i help you?"

"We're just looking, thank you", you reply with a smile.

The very next moment, she shouts to her colleague who is wiping tables at another end of the cafe, "Heng ar! just looking only!!!" (she said that line in mandarin)

Yes, i understand that closing time is near and you don't want to have to drag on your closing time.
Yes, i can understand that you might have cleaned up the kitchen or the tables and you don't want to have everything dirty again because a customer decides to come in.
Yes, i can understand that you might be tired after the whole day.
Yes, i fully understand that you have a right to bitch to your colleague.

BUT NOT IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMER!!!!!

i don't care whether or not we look like we understand chinese. Shouting in a cafe where there are other customers eating is rude. Gloating that you're lucky because the customer is not coming in, IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMER is plain rude!!!!!!

That attitude is DISGUSTING. Chocz, at marina square. The menu looked enticing enough for me to come back another day, but the attitude turned me off from that place for a very long time.

So i told Miss rude when she had the cheek to turn back and look at us.

"I think your attitude is quite bad."

What was i thinking??? It was so much more than "quite". It was terrible! Outrageous!!

All she could do was smile, and "huh? sorry..."

And Cliff proceeded to tell her why her attitude sucked.

No use. The deed is done. And if i had to say something cliche, think meteor garden, Dao Ming Si's pet phrase.

There is no excuse for bad service. Whether pissed off with a customer, or gloating because she is not going to come in and make you serve her, don't do it in front of the customer. Have the common sense to go somewhere where she can't hear you.

I have worked in the service line, customers can be fucked, but you don't fuck them back in front of them! (But we weren't annoying! We were innocently looking at the menu!)

I don't agree that the customer is always right, but you have to admit that the customer pays you.

I can't tolerate bad service!!!!!!
